He told police that he was beaten, claimed homophobic slurs, had a chemical poured on him and they put a rope around his neck. It was classified as a hate crime. Smollett also said that the men were wearing what appeared to be a MAGA hat. Smollett also claimed that a few days before the attack, he received a threatening letter at FOX Studio that contained a death threat along with the word “MAGA”.

After the attack, Smollett was interviewed by numerous outlets about the attack. The media started to question his version of the attack. He released a statement saying that his attack did happen and he was is 100% truthful in his account. It appears though that he might not have been all that truthful.

The police raided the home of the two brothers from Nigeria, Ola and Abel Osundairo, and found a black face mask hat, an Empire script, phone, receipts, a red hat and bleach. The brothers were questioned and released. One of the brothers has been reported to have been Smollett’s trainer.

Based on this information, deceives are now requesting that Smollett come to the police station for additional questioning. His attorneys, Todd Pugh and Victor Henderson, are denying the claims made by the brothers and released the following statement, “As a victim of a hate crime who has cooperated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with. He has now been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.”

So far, Smollett has not made himself available for questioning. Celebrities who had previously voiced their support for the actor have been deleting their support of the actor on their social media accounts.
