The Latest Bachelorette, Rachel Lindsay, Announces she is Engaged

rachel-lindsay-bachelorette-2017Although we are happy to hear that the newest Bachelorette is happily engaged, we are kind of upset about the spoiler! Ahead of the season premier of ABC’s The Bachelorette, Rachel Lindsay, told reporters that she is officially engaged. The newest bachelorette couldn’t hold back her excitement when she was describing her engagement. She was obviously mum on her fiancé’s name but she did say that if she had a list of qualities she’d want in a husband, “He would check everything off – check it twice!”

Lindsay, 32, first appeared on Nick Viall’s season of “The Bachelor,” and in February, before her elimination episode was aired, she was announced as the next Bachelorette. She was given the first impression rose because of her outgoing nature. Both Viall and Lindsay shared a lot of chemistry during their time together but ultimately Viall was looking or something else. Post break-up, Lindsay was looking forward to the next chapter in her life. She said after she was eliminated, “Time heals all. Since then, I’ve been able to get back into work and be with family and friends, I’ve moved on from it. My biggest thing is, I just want Nick to be happy. If he’s found that with someone else, then that makes me happy too.” Looks like she has moved on to her very own happy ending.

Lindsay, now happily engaged says she is looking forward to reuniting with her dog, Copper, getting back to practicing law and going public with her relationship. She stated, “It’s hard when you’re so excited about something and you can’t share it with everyone,” she added, “but we make sure that we communicate with each other all the time and that’s really all you can do.”

So far there are no current wedding plans. Lindsay said that both her and her fiancé want to use time away from the cameras to get to know each other better because they plan a wedding. She said that, “I’m trying to take things one step at a time. I just want to get to know my fiance to the fullest before I even start thinking about a wedding.”

The newest season of ABC’s The Bachelorette premiers this Monday.

Dance Moms’ Abby Lee Miller Sentenced to a Year in Prison

Dance Moms’ is facing a new kind of drama of a more serious nature. Almost a year and a half after she was first indicted on 20 accounts of fraud, former Dance Moms host Abby Lee Miller was sentenced today to one year and one day in prison by a federal judge in Pittsburgh. Abby Lee has found herself in some hot water.

The reality star, who rose to fame on the Lifetime series Dance Moms, was sentenced to one year and one day in prison followed by two years of supervised release on Tuesday. She was also reportedly fined $40,000 and ordered to pay a $120,000 judgment. She has 45 days to report to prison. “It’s a very serious situation when someone who files for bankruptcy isn’t truthful with the court,” Judge Joy Flowers Conti told the reality star in court.

The 50-year-old dance instructor was initially indicted in 2015 on 20 charges of bankruptcy fraud, concealment of bankruptcy assets and false bankruptcy declarations after the FBI, IRS and postal inspectors conducted an investigation. She allegedly hid more than $755,000 in other bank accounts, income reportedly stemming from appearances on the show in 2012 and 2013.

Lee Miller initially filed for bankruptcy in 2010. In the reorganization plan she submitted to the court, the reality star did not indicate she had a contract for the show. It reportedly was not until Judge Thomas Agresti spotted the choreographer on television that he canceled a hearing to discharge her bankruptcy case and requested she disclose any contracts.

“The problem here is that it looks to the court that she was hiding the ball,” Judge Agresti said at the time, per the newspaper, “and until she got caught we wouldn’t have known about this. Miller also pleaded guilty to one count of not reporting an international monetary transaction. In March, she also announced she was leaving the TV series.

While appearing in court Tuesday, she told the judge she was ashamed to be meeting this way and that she wished the judge could have taken her class. We wonder what her dance studio girls will think when they find out their teacher has gone to jail, and if she is sorry for her actions, or just sorry she got caught.  What have we learned here? It’s always better to tell the whole truth. And if you are not sure about a legal question, it’s better to investigate with professionals than making assumptions. You know what they say about assuming.

 

Stephen Colbert Doesn’t Regret Trump/Putin Joke

Stephen Colbert has ruffled some feathers this week. Stephen Colbert responded to #FireColbert backlash over a crude oral-sex joke he made about President Donal Trump and Vladimir Putin on Monday, May 1. Trump supporters and others thought the comment was inappropriate and called for the comedian to be dropped from the CBS show. Social Media did not take kindly to Colbert’s comment on the President of the United States. He got roasted.

The TV host, 52, opened his Wednesday, May 3, episode by addressing the controversy. “Welcome to The Late Show,” he said. “I’m your host, Stephen Colbert. Still? I am still the host? I’m still the host!”

Colbert went on to explain that his scathing monologue was inspired by Trump abruptly ending an Oval Office interview with fellow CBS correspondent John Dickerson. “Now, if you saw my monologue Monday, you know that I was a little upset at Donald Trump for insulting a friend of mine,” he said. “So at the end of that monologue, I had a few choice insults for the president in return. I don’t regret that. He, I believe, can take care of himself. I have jokes; he has the launch codes. So, it’s a fair fight.”  On Monday evening, Colbert riffed on the fact that Trump abruptly ended an interview with CBS News political director John Dickerson after the journalist asked about Trump’s disputed wiretapping claims against former President Barack Obama.

“Mr. Trump, your presidency, I love your presidency; I call it ‘Disgrace the Nation,'” Colbert, who calls Dickerson a friend, said Monday. “The only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin’s c—holster.” The joke was met with backlash from Trump supporters and conservatives, and the #FireColbert hashtag started trending on Twitter. “Life is short, and anyone who expresses their love for another person in their own way is, to me, an American hero,” Colbert said Wednesday. We can always count on Colbert to push the limits and ruffle so feathers. Just like those who don’t like Donald Trump have to deal with what he says, those who don’t like Colbert can also deal.

Amber Heard and Elon Musk Confirm Their Relationship Over the Weekend

Amber Heard and Elon Musk confirmed relationshipAmidst all the crazy gossip news that has been circulating this weekend (Here’s looking at you Mel B.), it’s nice to report some happy celebrity relationship news. After a year of speculation, Amber Heard finally confirms her relationship with tech billionaire, Elon Musk. She posted a pretty adorable photo on her Instagram of both her and Musk out to dinner and finally confirmed what we have suspected all along.

The photo showed Amber looking at the camera with her arm resting on his shoulder. He is facing away from the camera with a smile on his face. Amber was wearing a bright red lipstick and there is a bright red lip stick mark on his cheek. The caption of her photo said, “Cheeky”. The sweet photo immediately caught the attention of publications worldwide. Heard is absolutely glowing in the photo and appears to be very happy. Musk then shared a very similar photo on his Instagram with the caption, “Having moo moo at Moo Moo Gold Coast with @AmberHeard, @CreepyPuppet and @CowanFilms.”

Musk and Heard are currently in Australia for a business visit for Musk. We reported last month that we heard that this trip was happening but didn’t get a confirmation from either Heard or Musk’s camp. Aside from the business visit, Musk and Heard took time to sightsee while visiting. The couple headed to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary to take in the sights and to even zip line through the forest.  Even some of Musk’s children were present to enjoy the wildlife sanctuary while Musk and Heard were seen holding hands and being affectionate.

Things have been looking up since her very public divorce from Johnny Depp last year. She has been cast as Aquaman’s wife Mera in the upcoming Justice League movie coming out in 2017 which is currently in post-production. There is also be an Aquaman  movie coming out in 2018 which she will reprise her role as Mera. And now she is happy in love with Musk.

We have been cheering for Musk and Heard since it was rumored that they were dating. Cheers to the new couple and best of luck!

Daily Mail pays settlement to Melania TrumpThe Daily Mail is known for being an exploitive publication. They have a tendency to run with stories that sometimes are for shock value versus being rooted in truth. Daily Mail’s latest scandal ended up costing them a lot of money. Today, the Daily Mail settled two lawsuits with Melania Trump regarding an article that they published in August claiming that the modeling agency that Melania worked for in the 90’s was actually an escort service. The article titled “Racy photos, and troubling questions about his wife’s past that could derail Trump” was published online and in their physical paper last August at the height of the presidential race. Melania Trump was furious and filed a lawsuit seeking $150 million in damages.

According to NBC the article was run on the website and in the physical paper, and was later retracted without an apology less than two weeks after its publication date. Originally, she filed a $150 million lawsuit in Maryland but the court determined they did not have jurisdiction. She then later filed in New York this last February. Both Melania and her attorneys argued that the article had damaged her brand because according to her, she is “one of the most photographed women in the world”.

The lawsuit was successful because the Daily Mail has paid an undisclosed sum to Melania and issued an apology on their website. The publication apologize by saying “We accept that these allegations about Mrs Trump are not true and we retract and withdraw them,” it added. “We apologize to Mrs. Trump for any distress that our publication caused her.”

The Daily Mail hopefully will be more careful about what they post in the future. Regardless if you are a fan of Melania Trump and her husband, publishing an allegation like that with no evidence is  bad for business.
