The Bachelorette, Becca Kufrin, Picked Garrett Yrigoyen, the Problematic Social Media User

in Shows by

After a lot of spoilers and lot of speculation, Becca Kufrin has finally made her choice for her future husband. She picked the 29 year old Medical Sales rep, Garrett Yrigoyen, from Reno Nevada and she sent home Blake Horstmann. In the dramatical finale, aired last night, showed the difficult choice Becca had to make between the two men. Most people were rooting for Blake based on the fact the Garrett had some very problematic issues with his social media. Also, throughout the whole season there was a very obvious and strong connection between Becca and Blake. While she appeared to have a good time with Garrett, Blake seemed more well-rounded and also was very open with his feelings. Since their first one on one date, fans thought that Blake was the obvious choice.

But it was not meant to be, after giving his full speech, Blake was sent home to nurse his broken heart. Although, there had been rumors that Garrett was going to be the last one standing, people held out hope for Blake. After fans learned of Garrett’s problematic social media use after the first episode, they were quick to condemn him but as the season wore on, he managed to win over some people with his simple and seemingly sweet disposition. Some fans were able to forgive his transphobic, homophobic and racist likes on certain defamatory Instagram posts but others not so much. During the finale, many took to social media expressed their frustration that Becca picked someone that had liked and supported all those hateful Instagram posts. Early on in the season, Garrett issued a public apology that stated the following:

The Bachelorette's Finalist, Garrett Yrigoyen, Instagram apology

During the After the Rose Special, host Chris Harrison addressed the controversy. When asked about those likes, Garrett said, “I didn’t realize the effect of a double tap or a ‘like’ on Instagram,” Garrett explained. “I didn’t mean to hurt anybody’s feelings . . . I stand by everything I said in my apology. I’m trying to grow on a daily basis.”

Becca has asked fans early on to be open-minded about Garrett. Becca told Entertainment Tonight, “I want them to go through this season with me and watch my love story unfold with all of these men. I did things in the past that I’m sure [weren’t] the best [things], but I just want people to stay open-minded to everyone.”

During the finale, she said that although she doesn’t agree with his past Instagram usage, she believes that he has learned from the situation. She told Chris Harrison, “The Instagram situation, I don’t condone that and I know that he stands by his apology and he feels so bad for everyone that he did offend. He didn’t mean it. But I just want to move forward, to learn and to grow and continue to educate ourselves.”

Fans of the franchise were not pleased with outcome. Multiple people took to Twitter to express their outrage that Becca picked Garrett over Blake.

There has been no wedding date set yet but the couple appears to be full steam ahead despite the lack of support from Bachelor/Bachelorette Nation. Normally, we would say congrats but we aren’t Garrett fans either and honestly, we believe that this relationship is not going last.

ABC’s Most Hated Bachelor and his Second Fiancé Might Elope

in Scandals by

Arie and Lauren talking about eloping After the dumpster fire of an ending to the current boring season of the Bachelor, the second place winner and Arie are now talking about eloping sometime in the near future. For anyone that watched this season, this would be a great move in order to spare us the indignity of having to watch their wedding special. If you all can’t tell, Arie was not our favorite bachelor and we would like him to go gently into the sweet night.

For those who aren’t aware, Arie’s season was a borefest from the beginning and most people weren’t happy when he was chosen to be the next bachelor. Peter, from Rachel’s season, was a fan favorite and everyone assumed that he was the front runner to be the next bachelor. People were disappointed and surprised that suddenly Arie from a previous season from many years ago was picked. There were a lot of unhappy bachelor fans out there.

His whole season was indescribably boring. Until the Women Tell All episode. One of the rejected women, Caroline, shocked everyone by confronting Arie about the ending of the season. She called him out over something that he did after the season ended. She cryptically said, “I know what you did and I don’t know how you could do that. And I just really don’t understand. But I really hope you found what you’re looking for.” There was no other explanation but fans found out a week later that Arie pulled one of the worst moves in Bachelor history.

Stale Olive Garden breadstick of human Arie proposed to one woman, Becca, and then a month later dumped her ON CAMERA and then immediately ran to the runner up, Lauren, and asked her back out. But it later came out that he had already contacted her while engaged to Becca to find out how she felt. Becca knew he wanted to contact Lauren but she didn’t know that it opened the door to Arie getting back with Lauren.

On the After the Rose special, Arie proposed to Lauren and are now talking about eloping. Arie called off one engagement, then immediately got engage and it now talking about getting married ASAP. The callous way that man move from one relationship to another makes me doubt that Lauren has found her happily ever after.

Becca, however, isn’t sweating it because she is going to be the next Bachelorette and based on the guys she met during the after the rose special, we thinks she is going to be just fine. Our favorite so far is this fine piece of man, Lincoln, we hope to see more of him this summer.

Turns out, Herpes is the Main Reason Why Contests Don’t Make it on the Bachelor or Bachelorette

in Shows by

The Bachelor Tell All EpisodeIn  light of the most boring bachelor ever on this season’s Bachelor, some news has been released about the series that is frankly kind of shocking. Los Angeles Times staff writer Amy Kaufman’s new book, “Bachelor Nation: Inside the World of America’s Favorite Guilty Pleasure” really sheds some light on the process that contests go through into order to become a contest on the show. It has some interesting tidbits about the process but the most illuminating fact is that contests were always disqualified based on whether they had herpes or not. One would assume that maybe there would be other reasons to disqualify a candidate but turns out the real culprit is herpes.

The process starts with filling out an extremely lengthy application and sending in 15 photos of themselves from different angles. Applicants must also produce of a video of themselves in a well-lit room, wearing a nice outfit as if they were going out to a nice dinner. The video needed to include the applicant talking about their life, their family, their pets, what they look for in a man and their ultimate date.

Producers then decided if they want that applicant to move on to the next round. The next round includes flying the applicant out to Los Angeles for an in-person audition. The applications then have to fill out a 150 question survey that is filled with true or false questions and multiple choice. Some of the questions sound pretty nuts. According to an article on the NY Post some of the questions asked were, “Do you have out-of-body experiences? Do you think you can control things with your mind? Have you ever wanted to kill someone? Some of these questions would be asked several times, with different wording.”

The next step after the questionnaire was to have a one on one interview with a producer that would include candles and mood lighting. The on on one interview would last about 20 minutes and then the applicant was then ushered into a room that included 20 other producers. The applicant would then be peppered with rapid fire questions. The questions would start off fairly normal but then veer off into the absurd. Once the questioning was complete, the applicant then would be with the shows’s therapist, Dr. Catherine Selden.

Dr. Selden, according to the NY Post article, “is a state-licensed psychologist who graduated from Pepperdine University and has no disciplinary actions against her license”. She was made available to the cast members who asked for a therapist. The meeting with her would last an hour and she would mostly focus on asking questions that pertained to a person’s mental health. Questions about their history of mental illness, drinking and cheating were asked of all applicants.

Next a private investigator would look into each of the applicants backgrounds for and scandals that could be used for potential story lines or to help the show get ahead of any potential gossip. The private investigator would look for sex scandals, arrests and any other negative information that could used against the contestant in one way or another.

The final step to the whole process is the medical examination. Applicants would be required to give blood and urine samples. these samples were tested for drugs and STD’s. They would fill out a form about their medical history and if they had to take pills they were required to tell the medical professional conducting the test.

And it turns out that if the person had an STD, they were taken out of the running for the show. The article says that, “As soon as the medical tests came back, you’d see that herpes was the biggest thing,”said Ben Hatta, [creator and executive producer] Mike Fleiss’s old assistant. “And sometimes you’d be the first person to tell a contestant that they had herpes. You’d be like, ‘Uh, you should call your doctor.’ Why? ‘We’re not going to be able to have you on our show, but you should call your doctor.”

There is some questions however over how strict this vetting process is because there are some crazy people that appear on the show. Fleiss states that the process is so strict in order to weed out people that would be potentially hazardous to others or themselves. Fleiss said “We’re really careful about who we let on the show. We lose a lot of great potential characters because we’re so tough and stringent . . . Anyone who has any sort of borderline personality disorder or instability or any sort of past involving contemplation of suicide — we just can’t take the risk. We just don’t.”

But some other past producers have stated that is not always the case. Sometimes the producers would see someone that they knew would be great for TV and gave them a pass because they knew that person would create made for TV drama.

The agreements that the contestants sign are iron clad. Each contests signs away their rights to privacy both on and off the house for at least 3 years after their season has aired. They agree to be filmed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by not only cameras they can see but also hidden cameras. The most interesting part of the contract was that the show retains the right to “intentionally or unintentionally make misrepresentations or omissions concerning the Series”. Meaning the show can do whatever they want with the footage of the contests.

After all that, people still decide to go on the show regardless of signing their life away. Too bad they didn’t include some crazies on this season because Arie is a snooze fest. Let’s hope that Caroline’s revelation on the Women Tell All episode actually amounts to something good because we are dying of boredom.

The Latest Bachelorette, Rachel Lindsay, Announces she is Engaged

in People/Shows by

rachel-lindsay-bachelorette-2017Although we are happy to hear that the newest Bachelorette is happily engaged, we are kind of upset about the spoiler! Ahead of the season premier of ABC’s The Bachelorette, Rachel Lindsay, told reporters that she is officially engaged. The newest bachelorette couldn’t hold back her excitement when she was describing her engagement. She was obviously mum on her fiancé’s name but she did say that if she had a list of qualities she’d want in a husband, “He would check everything off – check it twice!”

Lindsay, 32, first appeared on Nick Viall’s season of “The Bachelor,” and in February, before her elimination episode was aired, she was announced as the next Bachelorette. She was given the first impression rose because of her outgoing nature. Both Viall and Lindsay shared a lot of chemistry during their time together but ultimately Viall was looking or something else. Post break-up, Lindsay was looking forward to the next chapter in her life. She said after she was eliminated, “Time heals all. Since then, I’ve been able to get back into work and be with family and friends, I’ve moved on from it. My biggest thing is, I just want Nick to be happy. If he’s found that with someone else, then that makes me happy too.” Looks like she has moved on to her very own happy ending.

Lindsay, now happily engaged says she is looking forward to reuniting with her dog, Copper, getting back to practicing law and going public with her relationship. She stated, “It’s hard when you’re so excited about something and you can’t share it with everyone,” she added, “but we make sure that we communicate with each other all the time and that’s really all you can do.”

So far there are no current wedding plans. Lindsay said that both her and her fiancé want to use time away from the cameras to get to know each other better because they plan a wedding. She said that, “I’m trying to take things one step at a time. I just want to get to know my fiance to the fullest before I even start thinking about a wedding.”

The newest season of ABC’s The Bachelorette premiers this Monday.

Chris Soules’ Legal Team Proclaims his Innocence in Fatal Hit and Run

in Scandals by

chris-soules-arrestFans of the ABC, The Bachelor, were stunned last week to hear that season 19’s bachelor was involved in a fatal hit and run last week. Chris Soules was arrested after his Chevy Truck rear ended a tractor that was being driven by one of his neighbors. The accident resulted in the death of his neighbor, Kenneth Mosher. He was arrested shortly after the accident at his home in Arlington, Iowa. He was charged with a felony and now his attorneys are asking a judge to dismiss the charges against him.

Last week, Soules was charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death. The motion filed by his attorneys stated that, “The complaint alleged Mr. Soules “[did] not immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident or as close as possible, and failed to return to and remain at the scene of the accident.” However, a recording of the 911 call that Soules made at the scene of the accident contradicts the original compliant filed against Soules. The recording of the call was released a few days after the accident.

The call originally obtained by TMZ, was logged by 911 operators before the police could reach the scene of the accident. Soules can be heard breathing heavily and on the verge of tears as he relays to the operator how the accident happened. The operator asks some questions about the situation and Soules checks the victim’s pulse and tells the operator that he can feel a pulse and that the victim was bleeding from the mouth. The operator asks if someone could perform CPR and it is not clear if it is Soules performing CPR or a bystander. Soules then left the scene and was later tracked down to his home and arrested.

Based on that call, Soule’s attorney’s are asking that the felony charge be dismissed. The filing stated, “Mr. Soules described the location of the accident and communicated with dispatch for approximately 5 minutes and 45 seconds while help was en route,” the May 1st filing read. “The evidence will further show that emergency responders arrived on the scene shortly after Mr. Soules concluded his 911 call. Mr. Soules remained on the scene with those emergency responders for several more minutes before returning to his home.”

The court documents went on to say, “Before hanging up, he confirmed that emergency responders were en route. Mr. Soules did not depart the scene until he was assured emergency personnel had the situation in hand. As a matter of law, the State cannot prove Mr. Soules did not render ‘reasonable assistance.’ Mr. Soules’ actions at the scene, as captured by the 911 recording, unquestionably were ‘reasonable.'”

Chris Soules is due in court next on May 9th, 2017.
